Beta2-adrenergic agonist

Beta2-adrenergic agonists are used first-line in the management of obstructive airway diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). They are generally inhaled.

Salbutamol is a short-acting beta-agonist (SABA) used for immediate relief.

Salmeterol is an example of a long-acting beta-agonist (LABA) that is used regularly to reduce the incidence of bronchospasm.
